Protecting young athletes

• An athlete's date of birth sets their age band the moment they enter it.
• Under-16 accounts start locked: the profile cannot be searched, shortlisted, messaged or shown to organisations.
• The athlete enters a guardian's email. The guardian receives a one-time code, reviews exactly what is being consented to, and confirms.
• Only after that confirmation does the profile become discoverable.
• Consent is recorded with the guardian's name, a hashed reference to their contact detail, a timestamp and the policy version they saw.

A guardian can withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal takes effect immediately: the profile re-locks, discoverability stops, and open conversations are closed to new messages. Guardians can also request an export or deletion of the athlete's data on their behalf via the data request form or privacy@striide.app.

• No behavioural advertising or ad-tech tracking, in any jurisdiction.
• No sale or sharing of youth data with data brokers.
• No public exposure of contact details — organisations reach athletes through on-platform messaging only.
• No unsolicited approaches from unverified accounts: only organisations that have passed verification can contact a minor.

Athletes aged 16 and 17 can manage their own profile, but we still apply the youth protections above: verified-organisations-only contact, no behavioural advertising, and a prominent guardian contact on file where one has been provided.

Any member can report a profile, message or organisation from the product. Safeguarding reports are prioritised in our moderation queue and reviewed by a person, never closed automatically. Urgent concerns: privacy@striide.app.
